Bail denied in child sex case

A 38-year-old Yorkton man accused of sexually assaulting at least two girls under the age of 16 has been denied bail by a Yorkton Provincial Court judge.

A 38-year-old Yorkton man accused of sexually assaulting at least two girls under the age of 16 has been denied bail by a Yorkton Provincial Court judge.

William Thomas faces two counts of sexual assault, one count of sexual assault causing bodily harm, one count of assault causing bodily harm, two counts of sexual touching of a person under the age of 16, one count of inciting a person under the age of 16 to sexual touching, one count of sexual exploitation of a child, one count of possession of child pornography, one count of luring a child using a computer system and three breaches of an undertaking.

Thomas originally appeared in court March 11 and was denied bail pending preparation of a bail verification report.

On March 15, the report was prepared, but the Court could not verify the address he is supposed to be residing at while on release.

A new bail hearing is scheduled for March 24 to allow an amendment to the bail verification report. Thomas will remain in custody in the meantime.
